MURIEL FAILLE

DANS L'ESPRIT DES VIGNES

Multidisciplinary artist

Opening: Sunday September 25 at 2 pm

With her exhibition Dans l’esprit des vignes, Muriel Faille, a well-known artist from Brome-Missisquoi, invites us to contemplate the vineyards in winter. Her abstract works evoke the play of snow and wind on the geothermal covers that protect the dormant vines from inclement weather.  “In this white landscape of winter, everything rests, everything regenerates”, thus creating a climate of reverie in which “poetry takes its momentum”, writes the artist.

Through different figurative forms, Muriel Faille observes the traces of time, the rhythms of life, and draws inspiration from them. Her paintings, drawings, sewn and embroidered geothermal membranes, boxes of curiosities and installations form a body of work that evokes the invisible and encourages the viewer to experience the dream world.

Recipient of a CALQ grant in 2021, Muriel Faille has had nearly 25 solo exhibitions and some sixty group exhibitions throughout her 45 years of artistic practice.
