Oil on canvas – Acrylic on canvas

Opening
Sunday, January 22 from 2 pm to 4 pm

In Laurent Palardy’s exhibition of new artwork, the artist explores abstraction and perception of urban and imaginary spaces. These oil paintings exemplify the artists’ perceptions of surroundings, where he has observed textures, colours, as well as their play of light and reflections. While contemplating and refining the architectural lines and form, the artist creates a piece to which colour prevails. The effects of perspective, and non-perspective, created by the artist allows the viewer to question him or herself, dream freely, or get a glimpse on what is possible. Thus, opening a window into an intimate, secret and unrevealed space.

From of her studio research, Johanne Simard offers a selection of ten art works in which she creates a language of her own. Her method consists of exploring stroke by scratching, accumulation, removal, and other techniques. Landscape, her source of inspiration, is reflected in the omnipresence of green colours. Johanne Simard experiments from time to time transferring images from a collection of issues from Biosphère magazine where she uses her techniques. The addition and subtraction of colours makes it possible for her to scratch the paint, creating texture, making visible her process and allowing us to see the way she creates space. Simard says, “I am on guard, listening to the presence of oneself, a hyphen, a mediator, a bridge between two being”.

The Gallery is open Thursday to Sunday, from 1 pm to 5 pm.
