FRANÇOIS VINCENT

ELLIPTICAL LANDSCAPES

Paintings

Opening Sunday July 30 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An invitation to come and explore the drawings, prints and paintings of the artist François Vincent. His paintings are veritable jewel boxes of colours, in which the third dimension is always present and repeated in multiple patterns. Light and shadow amplify the three-dimensionality of his works, a bit like observing a theatre scene. Whatever the subjects of his paintings, there is always a dramatic and unusual atmosphere, imbued with an aura of mystery. His paintings invite the viewer to approach them and almost enter them on some level to live an experience that can only be described as immersive.

François Vincent has been a painter and a member of the Atelier Circulaire since the mid-1980s. There he perfected printmaking and lithography techniques. He is also an outstanding draftsman and has been teaching drawing for several years to students enrolled in scenography at the National Theater School of Canada.
