Through painting, the artist expresses her sensitivity to the beauty of nature. She creates her works without premeditation, seeking to let things emerge rather than to control them. She does not plan; she improvises. In this way, abstraction allows her to let shapes and colours interact without imposing a specific theme. Yet, a subject eventually emerges—most often an informal landscape where she finds the freedom of gestures that do not depict nature, but rather suggest its movements and dynamics. Shapes and colours belong to the elements and express an imaginary nature, her inner landscapes.

In 1996, Francine Denault set up her studio in the beautiful Eastern Townships region. In 2003, she devoted herself entirely to developing her art, drawing full inspiration from the surrounding nature. She became a member artist of the Tour des Arts and welcomes visitors to her studio every year. She regularly exhibits solo in exhibition centres and cultural venues, and also takes part in numerous group exhibitions in Montreal and across the Eastern Townships.
In March 2011, together with three other associate artists, she opened a contemporary art gallery in Sutton, Galerie Art Libre. Her works can be found in private collections in Canada, France, and England.
Everything influences and ultimately finds its way into the expression of her art. Signs and marks unconsciously reappear on the canvas without premeditation, through intuitive and spontaneous gestures. In this way, abstraction, planes, and relief lose their formal character, allowing viewers to freely recompose their own universe.
“Art is a precious gift that must be allowed to escape from us, and sometimes be displayed with no other intention than communication and sharing.”
