Opening

Friday, July 26 from 5 pm to 7 pm

Exhibition from July 25 to September 1, 2019

The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The SÉRIES exhibition showcases past and current works that, through various media, explore themes as diverse as Mythology, The Litigants, and Polyptychs.

Each series is a way for the artist to approach the world of visual creation in a sometimes playful, expressive, or minimalist manner. He explores different approaches to create images that reflect his training as an art historian and his experience as a visual artist.

Born in Montreal, Pierre Bourbonnais has lived in Bedford since June 2014. After his college studies, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Art History from the Université de Montréal, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the same institution.
His professional life has been in teaching, mainly at Cégep du Vieux Montréal, where he has taught art history courses related to various artistic practices, including visual arts, textile construction, textile printing, woodworking, industrial design, contemporary and classical dance, and graphic design. It was in this last program that he began his work as a visual artist, approaching the practice with the perspective of a theorist.

Since 2008, he has presented various projects in both two and three dimensions as part of group exhibitions, reflecting influences from his teaching. In the spring of 2018, he won first prize in the Galerie Arts Sutton’s member artists competition, earning him the opportunity for a solo exhibition.
