All life is part of a yet real but great intangible network: earth and sky, human beings and animals, time, silence…

In her works, France McNeil is inspired by the graphic side of lines of branches and foliage and the meaning of life hidden within. These networks and entanglements become metaphors that tend to identify who we are.

By using drawings, souvenirs, photographs, imaginary places inspired by nature and forest emerges in her work and encourages reflection on our influence on nature.

A native of the Eastern Townships, France McNeil has lived and worked in Quebec City for several years. A 1994 graduate of the École des arts visuels at Université Laval, her work is rooted in painting, printmaking, and drawing.
Her works have been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Quebec and abroad: Cuba, Scotland, France, Ireland, Belgium, Poland, and Germany. They have been acquired by prestigious public and private collections, including the Desjardins Collection, the Loto-Québec Collection, the Pratt & Whitney Canada Collection, the Canadian Institute of Quebec Collection, and the Vestey Group Collection in London, United Kingdom.

A finalist for the Videre Prize as part of the Quebec Arts and Culture Excellence Awards, she has also participated in several visual arts residencies, the last of which was at the Vermont Studio Center.
