This exhibition on “Climate Migrations” is viscerally focused on human and environmental concerns that affect the entire planet. The subjects portrayed in the paintings and photographs are people and animals subjected to the ever-present hazards of droughts or floods, as well as climatic or social disruptions. Everything is laden with nuance; the magnificence of the works is merely a pretext for raising awareness.
Colors become part of the drama, where blacks and indigos stretching across skies and waters evoke humanity’s fragility and its struggle for survival on Earth. The commentary on migrations here is universal, sounding like a resounding alarm in the face of so many disappearances of life. Human anxiety and pain are subtly expressed in the striking beauty of vivid, assertive colors charged with drama, and in the stunning allegory of the migratory flights of thousands of snow geese at the mercy of the changing moods of the seasons’ disruptions.Art, in its moments of brilliance, can engage in politics and deliver an indisputable social message of urgency!
