For the past decade, Alexandre Cv has been documenting the morphology of places in transition around the world. Each exploration is an opportunity to connect the site with its history, nature with its structures. By questioning the notion of Genius loci, or spirit of place, he aims to highlight the inherent tensions within the photographed locations. Through a methodical attention to framing, overexposing light sources to isolate the subject, or staging reflections on water or glass, he challenges the very notion of landscape and its construction. This landscape—both a polysemous concept and a sociocultural construct—is, for him, an essential gateway to connecting our relationship with the land and, ultimately, with ourselves.

Alexandre Cv graduated from the Université de Montréal with a degree in art history and garden design. He turned to photography in 2009. A self-taught artist, his work has been exhibited in various venues in Quebec as well as in Toronto, and is part of several private collections. He has curated four group exhibitions and organized various events on the theme of landscape. Fascinated by urban and landscape issues, he has given lectures on the city and art. He also undertakes photographic assignments on the subjects
