In a world increasingly dominated by digital technology, Brigitte Dahan is interested in the effects of new technologies on our psychology, our evolution as a species, and our relationship with nature. The passage of time, transformation, and mutation inhabit her works, in which organic and technological references intertwine.
In the exhibition Apparences, the artist presents works exploring the themes of communication and image. At a time when social media amplifies the desire for an idealized self, the virtual image is often far removed from inner life, and appearances can be deceiving. Through a production of clay sculptures, murals, and installations, the artist nurtures her attachment to the material, which for her is a guarantee of authenticity and grounding in the real world. Her works carry strong symbolism, often revealed through meticulous surface treatments (imprints, grooves, holes). These traces—remnants of a past time or expressions of an inner world—form a visual language that tells a story.
