Espace Claire-Léger presents
Nathalie Cloutier
Abysses
From July 25 to September 08, 2024
Nathalie Cloutier
Abysses
Vernissage, Sunday July 28, 2024 at 2 p.m.
Nathalie Cloutier draws her inspiration from the micro-landscapes she discovers in nature, amazed by the way time transforms mineral and plant matter. Her compositions reinterpret this geomorphology without seeking to reproduce it realistically. Fascinated by the fragility of life, Nathalie expresses the vital interaction between man and his natural environment, confronting their shared fragility in a symbolic pictorial dialogue. Her artistic approach is in continuity with the naturalist, surrealist and expressionist movements.
Pastel drawing, oil painting and encaustic are just some of the techniques she uses to translate light effects, particular atmospheres and color harmonies, and to render her landscape metaphors unique.
The Abysses exhibition is a continuation of her artistic approach, revealing interior landscapes where emotions wander through unusual materials and luminous atmospheres, revealing their strangeness.
Nathalie Cloutier holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Concordia University. Her work has been exhibited here and in Europe, and some is held in public collections. Nathalie taught design and visual arts at CEGEP for over thirty years. Passionate about passing on her knowledge, she now gives private lessons in her studio. To find out more about her work and career path, visit her website: https://nathaliecloutier.ca/
