Job Posting – Art Centre Coordination
Located in Sutton, in the Eastern Townships, Arts Sutton Art Centre is a registered charitable organization with approximately 300 members, including established and emerging professional artists, art enthusiasts, and individuals from the business community. It is a venue for dissemination dedicated to the promotion of contemporary visual arts. Its annual programming includes exhibitions as well as educational activities in the form of workshops, lectures, and more.
Mandates:
As coordinator, your tasks will fall into two main categories: administrative and artistic. You will receive your mandates from the Board of Directors and report directly to the Chair of the Board. You will also collaborate with Board committees and support their work, including the Artistic Committee, Communications Committee, and any other committee the Board may choose to create.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating the Art Centre’s activities (exhibitions, lectures, workshops, fundraising events, cultural mediation activities, and other initiatives decided by the Board). Propose and implement efficient operational practices and administrative procedures.
- Promoting the Centre’s activities: updating the website and social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram), coordinating the update of promotional materials, ensuring their proper distribution, and assessing their effectiveness. Writing and sending the newsletter (via Mailchimp).
- Providing services to members: managing registrations and renewals; maintaining the database and correspondence; actively following up on membership outreach.
- Managing and organizing the gallery’s human resources (support staff and volunteers) and material needs.
- Welcoming and informing visitors to the Art Centre; encouraging them to become members or participate in activities; maintaining a visitor log; promoting the gallery in the Sutton community whenever possible.

- Profile:
- Strong organizational skills
- Team-oriented
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and delegate
- Comfortable working with a Board of Directors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Languages:
- Excellent spoken and written French
- Good spoken and written English
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and Apple environments
- Comfortable with Facebook and Instagram
- Familiarity with the Mailchimp platform
- Assets (Preferred Criteria):
- Knowledge of the visual arts sector
- Archiving skills
We offer:
- Flexible working hours (between 24 and 28 hours/week)
- Possibility of partial remote work. Note: typical schedule includes one weekend workday (Saturday or Sunday), alternating as needed.
- Hourly wage: $25
- Three (3)-month probation period and one-year contract
- One (1) week of paid vacation between Christmas and New Year’s Day
- Privileged access to the organization’s events and exhibitions
